WADESBORO - On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Mr. Raymond "Ray" Allen Boyer, 77, passed away peacefully at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 11, 2026 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Gerald officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park with Military Honors.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

Ray was born July l14, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant, PA and was a son of the late Joseph Randall Boyer, Sr. and the late Sarah Louise Poorbaugh Boyer. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from 1966 to 1970.

He was retired from Anson County Government, having worked as building maintenance supervisor for Anson County Parks and Recreation. He was an active and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. He had a heart for others and quietly would help anyone in need.

Ray and his wife Shirley enjoyed traveling and camping, seeing many different places. They made many lasting memories together touring the United States. He also enjoyed playing golf and going out to eat with family and friends.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are his sisters and brother, Nancy Starling of Martinsville, VA, Hazel Allred (Roger) of Stanfield and Albert Boyer (Carol) of Wadesboro; his brother in law and sisters-in-law, Billy Freeman (Martha) of Mint Hill, Nancy Freeman of Burlington, Sue Boyer and Kendra Melton both of Wadesboro and his nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Freeman Boyer and his brothers, Lester "Bud" Boyer and Joe Boyer, Jr.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham for the wonderful way in which they cared for Ray.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice Haven, 1119 N US 1 HWY, Rockingham, NC 28379 or to Calvary Baptist Church, 430 Lansford Dr., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
