LILESVILLE – Come home, come home it’s supper timeOn Friday, February 9, 2024, Rev. Floyd Franklin Newton, Sr., 89, heard the call and went home to be with his Lord while being cared for at Hospice Haven in Rockingham after battling bone and lung cancer.

 

            Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 12, 2024, at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Eason officiating. Interment will follow in Jowers Cemetery.

 

            The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Monday at the church and other times at home.

 

            Floyd was born January 7, 1935, in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late William Tommy Newton and the late Eula Garris Newton. During his lifetime, he had worked for Sealtest Milk driving a truck, Hudson Paving, Federal Paper Company and the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

 

            He was a man of great faith and always shared his witness for the Lord wherever he was. He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Lilesville.

 

            Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Judy Faye Newton, Floyd Newton, Jr. (Norma), Ron Newton (Angela), and  Janet Newton Hinson (Jeff); his grandchildren, Bobby Newton, Amanda Newton, Dustin Jackson, Joshua Casey, Brandon Newton, Dillon Crowley, Matt Newton, mark Newton, Jessica Crowley and Ricky Newton; his 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; his brother, Haywood Newton; his sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Newton, and his faithful companion, Smokey, III.

 

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Faye; his baby boy, Douglas; his granddaughter, Crystal; and his brothers and sister, William Ray, Carter and Edna.

 

            The family is most grateful to the staff of Richmond County and Anson Community Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Floyd and most recently to the staff at Hospice Haven for the dignity and love they shared with him.

 

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church or to Hospice Haven.
