WADESBORO - On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Mr. Richard "Rick" Dean Jones, 62, passed away peacefully at the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe, NC, with his loving family at his bedside.
Funeral services will be 6:00 PM, Thursday, July 23, 2026, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Mr. Ken Caulder and his brother-in-law, Mr. Jesse McQueen, officiating.
The family will greet friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Rick was born May 26, 1964, in Hampton, VA, and was a son of the late William Charles Jones, Sr. and the late Connie Faye Parks Jones. He worked for many years as a route driver for Pepsi Cola, Coke, Coors, and Budweiser but is most remembered for his employment as a store manager with Sav A Lot in Wadesboro for 17 years and with Dollar General in Wadesboro and Lilesville fo 17 years.
He dearly loved his wife and children and always looked forward to sharing time with them. He was an avid Washington Redskiins fan, as well as an Atlanta Braves fan. He enjoyed watching western movies on television.
Rick had a larger-than-life personality and never met a stranger. He always made it a point to get to know his customers in the stores and personally greeted them upon their arrival.
Those who are left to cherish his memory aer his wif eof 39 yeas, Wendy Parker Jones; his daughters, Amber Jones (Tommy Alexander) and Jennifer Jones both of Wadesboro; his son, Kyle Moore of Chesterfield, SC; his grandchildren, Miarh-Kohle Morales, Samiya Jones, Brooklyn Hosley, Quincy Hunter, Carson Moore and Cooper Moore; his God-children, Ashley Brown Williams (Michael) of Polkton, Allyce Brown Hough (Chris) of Lilesvlile and Cody Carpenter (Brittany) of Wadesboro; his sisters, Sara Gulledge of Virginia, Deborah Greene of Wadesboro, Wanda McQueen (Jesse) and Desiree Smith both of Rockingham; His brothers-in-law, Gene Parker (Susan) of Wadesboro, Dale (Allison) Parker of McFarlan, and Dale Yow (Cindy) of CAndor; his aunts and uncle, Bobbie Jones of Rockingham, Doris Ellis of Hamlet, Polly Becker of Maryland, Susie Curtiss of Virgnia, Gay VanBrero (Erik) of Wadesboro and Clayton Jones (Carolyn) of Kinston and his nieces and nephews from both the Jones and Parker families, as well as, many cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike Hosley, his brother, Billy Jones, his paternal grandparents, Roland H. Jones and Julia Mae Tarlteon Jones; his maternal grandparents, Elmer Smith Parks and Minnie Lee Evan Parks; and his uncles and aunts, R.H. Jones, Loise Steele, Jerry Jones, Harold Jones, Ray Parks, Larry Parks, Eunice Parks and Jean Miles.
