ANSONVILLE – On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, with her loved ones gathered around her room, Mrs. Ruby Mauldin Smith, 71, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 10, 2026, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lilesville with Rev. James Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ansonville.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home in Ansonville.
Ruby was born May 12, 1955, in Stanly County, NC and was a daughter of the late William Armstead Mauldin and the late Margaret Elizabeth Ricketts Mauldin. She attended Anson County Public Schools and had worked in textiles for a number of years and as a private duty caregiver.
A longtime and faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, she has taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, served as treasurer and in any other way needed. Due to health limitations, her church attendance was not as regular as in the past, but she never failed to call and encourage others by sharing the love of Jesus and praying for them.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard “Spanky” Smith, Jr. (Delorse) and Candie Eury (Vernon) both of Ansonville and Stephen Smith of Albemarle; her grandchildren, Kelly Holcombe (Albert) of Wadesboro, Bradley Smith (Tianna) of Polkton, Jacob Smith, Angela Kimrey (T.J.) and Kaylee Eury all of Ansonville; her great-grandchildren, Daisy Lee Holcombe, J.A. Holcombe, Addie Smith and Skylar Kimrey; her brother William Mauldin of Lilesville and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Ricky” Levone Smith, Sr. and by her sisters and brother, Libby Pegram, Frances Pegram and Johnny Mauldin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 7080 Stanback Ferry Rd., Lilesville, NC 28091.
The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home and online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
