Sadie Moore Waddell

WADESBORO - On Monday, January 7, 2019, Mrs. Sadie Moore Waddell, 90, peacefully slipped away to heaven to be reunited with her husband, her son, all of her brothers and sisters and countless other family members and friends. Her family rejoices in knowing she fought the good fight of faith. Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, January 10, 2018 at Brown Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday, January 9, 2018 at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at her home. Sadie was born January 21, 1928 in Anson County, NC and was one of 10 children born to Robert Augusta Moore and Hanna Elizabeth Peguese Moore. She was a graduate of Deep Creek High School and later attended Pfeiffer College. She retired from Anson County Department of Social Services and following that worked for many years in her families business, Waddell Farms. A dedicated member of Brown Creek Baptist Church, she served in many of the churchs ministries for more than 70 years. Her strong faith and Christian example shaped her family and left a lasting legacy for her children and grandchildren. She was blessed with a servants heart and that was evident as she faithfully cared for her family, friends and members of the community. She was a true Southern lady who loved to cook, decorate and entertain others. A gracious host, she found great joy in opening her home to others and there was always room for one more. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy Waddell (Joye) of Wadesboro and Steve Waddell (Sharon) of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Alisha Craven (Chad) and Kimberly Wilson (Jeremy) both of Wadesboro, Mandy Little (Everette) of Marshville, Mary Lena Allen (Brian) of Peachland, Adam Waddell (Tiffany), Nicholas Waddell (Adrienne) and Wesley Waddell all of Charlotte and Addison Waddell (Brittany) of Bennettsville, SC; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Tom Taylor of Wadesboro and her many nieces and nephews and their families all of whom she loved dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Herman Waddell, Jr., her son, Addison Garfie Waddell; her brothers and sisters, Carl Moore, Willie Moore, Rob Moore, Nancy Brock, Virginia Chewning, Ellie Bowman, Ollie Short, Maggie Lear and Anne Thomas and her sister-in-law, Anna Lee Waddell Taylor. At the news of her passing, one her nieces said, "What a reunion day! Grandmother Moore has all 10 of her children together again". What a comforting thought at the end of a life well-lived. Proverbs 31 states, her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Brown Creek Baptist Church, 4210 NC 742 N, Wadesboro, NC 28170. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com
