WADESBORO - Mrs. Thelma Tarlton James Horton, 91, died Monday, September 7, 2015 at Anson Health and Rehab in Wadesboro. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, September 11, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie Furr officiating. Interment will follow in Hanna Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Thelma was born April 21, 1924 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late William B. Tarlton and the late Charlotte Trexler Tarlton. She had a long career in textiles and retired from West Knitting Mills and was a long time member of Hanna Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are her sons, Stephen T. James and wife, Fricka of Charlotte and Michael R. James and wife, Marian of Wendell; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Horton and son, Ronald J. James.
