Tommy Lee Howell

WADESBORO – On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Mr. Tommy Lee Howell, 91, passed away peacefully in Clarksville, VA. 

 There will be a service to celebrate Tommy’s life Tuesday, at 12:00 PM, July 9, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Helms officiating. 

 The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. 

 Tommy was born September 8, 1932, in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Ed Howell and the late Alice Mae Braswell Howell. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a life-long member of North Wadesboro Baptist Church. 

 He worked for 21 Hornwood in Lilesville, and later retired from Cooper Tools. He was a well-known beekeeper in Anson County and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. 

 Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Julia Hasty Howell; her children, Lee Howell (Kathy) of Jefferson, SC and Angela Blanks (Michael)of Clarksville, VA; his grandchildren, Brittney Mager (Kevin) of Waxhaw, Dr. Seth Howell (Veronica) of Camden, SC and Travis Phillips (Crystal) of Charlotte; his 12 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Curtis Howell (Jeanette) of Wadesboro. 

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great-grandson, James Seth Howell and by his sister and brothers, Edna Howell, J.B. Howell and Douglas Howell. 

 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to North Wadesboro Baptist Church, P, O, Box 764, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
