LILESVILLE – On Friday, September 18, 2026, Mr. Tony Hanna, 79, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Olivet United Methodist Church with Mr. Ken Caulder officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.

Tony was born September 6, 1947 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Tyler Hanna and the late Ethel Mae Morris Hanna. He was a graduate of Bowman High School and served with the United States Marine Corps. He served three tours of duty during the Vietnam War.He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Silver Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm and Frame, and Good Conduct Medal. He was proud of his service to his country.

He was a member of Olivet United Methodist Church. He worked for many years as a logger and retired from Jackson Oil Company.

Tony enjoyed collecting bottles and arrowheads and going fishing. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed sharing time with his grandchildren.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Pearl Goodwin Hanna; his daughters, Leslie Hanna (Patrick Gibbons) of Norwood and Alicia Williams (Travis) of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Hanna Williams, Ellie Gibbons, Carpenter Williams, and Luke Gibbons; his bonus children, Shane and Tannis Carter of Varnam Town; his mother-in-law, Martha D. Goodwin of Lilesville; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and his nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Bobby Hanna, Diane Helms, Dorothy Blalaock, Judy Ingani, Betty Stout, Patsy Tyson, Billy Hanna and Tommy Hanna.

The family is most grateful to Ahsley Freeman and Sh-Aria with Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate way they cared for him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olivet United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, c/o, Martha D. Goodwin, 3788 Stanback Ferry Rd., Lilesville, NC 28901.
