WADESBORO – On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Mr. R Wayne Worley, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully at the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.
Services will be 12:00 PM, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, by the graveside in the Worley and Jackson Family Cemetery in Wadesboro with Rev. Jerry Bennett and Rev. Jimmy Pritchard officiating.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Leavitt Funeral Home.
Wayne was born March 21, 1946, in Ashe County, NC and was a son of the late David Solomon Worley and the late Emma Mae Kimberlin Worley. He worked for many years as a sawmill operator and worked with Rebel Lumber.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, farming, having gardens, and painting. He was quite a storyteller and jokester. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Bonnie Taylor Worley; his children, Mary Horne of Kannapolis, Lori Mincey (Glenn) of Greenville, SC, Danielle Worley of Columbia, SC, Kris Jackson (Alisha) of Wadesboro, Melanie Faith Worley of Salisbury, and Hollie Worley Younts (Jeff) of Lilesville; his grandchildren, Kobe Jackson (Taylor), Bryson Jackson (Shaelyn), Landon Jackson, Tyler High, Thomas Younts, Levi Horne, Jordan Horne, Jackie Mincey, Nicholas Mincey, Paul Mincey, and Paige Parker; his great-grandchildren, Caroline Jackson, Savannah Horne, Alyssa Horne, Lilly Horne, Graham Horne, Jack Mincey, Chase Humes, Camden Humes, Locklan Bedenbaugh, Beau Turner, Declan Rabon, and Bellamy Rabon; and his sisters, Valerie Hedrick and Libby Johnson both of Lexington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Johnathan Worley, his grandson, Benjamin Horne and by his sisters and brothers, Billie Bare, Deanne Truell, Peggy Robinson, Bobbie Winebarger, Judy Milam, Billie Tetter, Archie Kimberlin, James Worley, Ronda Worley, Junior Worley, and George Worley.
