William Osborne Tarlton

Monroe – Mr. William Osborne Tarlton, age 80, died early on Monday, February 15, 2021, while a resident at Wadesboro Health & Rehab. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Griffin officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Born in Monroe on August 16, 1940, William was a son of the late James Atlas and Thelma Catherine Upchurch Tarlton. William was active in the Eastside Baptist Church and the Liberty Recreation Department working as an employee and coaching local kids. Returning to his Union County roots in 2017, William was fortunate enough to move back to the family homeplace where he grew up. Survivors include his son, Tim Tarlton (Sonya) of Monroe; four grandchildren, Braden Tarlton, Sierra Tarlton, Kimberly Killion and Joseph Miles; and four great-grandchildren, Ava, Ezra, Bella and Noel. Also surviving is a brother, Tom Tarlton (Bonnie) and sister, Nancy Jo Brooks (Dwight) both of Monroe. Smith; a grandchild, Nicole Smith; and a brother, Atlas Tarlton. The family suggests memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church Youth Group, 5928 New Salem Rd., Marshville, NC 28103.
