POLKTON – On Saturday, May 31, 2025, Mr. Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Baucom, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully at Atrium Cabarrus Northeast in Concord.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, June 6, 2025, by the graveside at Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Marty Quick officiating.

Woody was born March 2, 1943, in New Bern, NC and was a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Baucom and the late Pearl Owens Baucom. He was retired from Stanly Knitting Mills.

He was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. He and his wife Betty have enjoyed horseback riding and camping trips for many years. They enjoyed riding trips and camping at Sugar Loaf Mountain and mountain riding in Tennessee. He also liked spending time trail riding in Burnsville.

Woody loved being at home also, spending time swinging on the porch and meeting up with his friends every morning at the store in Burnsville.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Betty Carpenter Baucom; his sons, Perry Wilson Baucom (Elizabeth) of Burgaw and Bradley Stuart Baucom of Polkton; his grandchildren, Tyler Baucom (Brittany) of Louisburg, Kaitlyn Baucom, Jayden Kiker (Zack) and Garrett Baucom all of Polkton; his great-grandchildren, Carter Baucom, Navy Baucom and Beckam Baucom; special family friend, Angie Baucom of Polkton; his sisters-in-law, Barbara (Larry) of Waxhaw, Joyce Meachum (Ray) of Wadesboro, Shirley Hinson (Kenny) of Polkton and Evelyn Carpenter of Wadesboro and other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Shelby Barton Baucom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Mount Baptist Church, 4167 Rocky Mount Church Rd. Polkton, NC 28135.
